Festival

The annual Uroboros festival brings together artists, designers and researchers working with more-than-human worlds. We take more-than-human broadly to include multispecies ecologies of plants, animals, fungi and microbes, and the algorithmic, infrastructural and technical agencies entangled with them.

The festival presents a common ground for collective experimentation rather than a showcase stage: formats include performative events, field trips, workshops, sound walks, lectures, symposia and multi-day research gatherings. Contributors are invited to test new methods, propose provocations, and bring forward ideas they might not have shared before.

Instead of setting a fixed curatorial framing, each year’s festival emerges from several strands of collateral activities, such as the Ars Biologica Independent Studies (ABIS) programme and the Uroboros Loops, organised with contributors throughout the year. The year-long process of co-shaping the theme, format and programme matters as much as the festival itself.

Uroboros is based in Prague and runs partially online. Year-long collateral activities have so far unfolded in Helsinki, Oslo, České Budějovice, Nové Hrady and elsewhere. To find out more about past editions, visit the Uroboros Archive below.
